Looking after the appliance we built you

Five minutes a day is the whole difference between an appliance that lasts years and one that stops fitting.
Anything that sits in a mouth for hours picks up a film. Film is what turns clear plastic cloudy, what gives an appliance a smell by the end of the week, and what works on the surface until stain has somewhere to settle. None of it is dramatic on day one. What you notice is a month of skipped rinses, all at once. The daily part is short, and everything it needs came in the box.
  • The right cleaning foam, free in every order
  • A care case with a mirror, free in every order
  • Quicker to do than it is to read about

Every day, at the sink

  1. Rinse it. Cool water the moment it comes out, before anything has a chance to dry on.
  2. Brush it. A soft brush and the foam, or any mild cleaner with no grit in it, over every face.
  3. Rinse and park it. Run it clear, dry it off and set it in the case.
Rinse it once more before it goes back in, and brush your own teeth first so nothing gets sealed underneath.

Once a week, a longer soak

A soak reaches what a brush only moves around. Drop the appliance into a denture cleaning solution, leave it for as long as the solution tells you, then brush it lightly and rinse until the water comes off clean. Pick a day and keep to it, and clear plastic stays clear for the life of the appliance. If it has been shut in the case unused for a stretch, give it the soak before you wear it again rather than after.
  • A denture cleaning solution lifts the stain that daily brushing leaves behind
  • Rinse it well before it goes back in
  • Store it dry in a clean case between wears, never wet and never wrapped
An ultrasonic cleaner or a case with UV lights does the same job hands off, if you would rather not keep a bowl on the shelf.

What ruins an appliance

  • Hot water, boiling water and the dishwasher. Heat pulls flexible material out of shape and a warped plate never seats again.
  • Abrasive paste and a hard brush. The scratches they leave are exactly where stain moves in for good.
  • Bleach, strong alcohol and a hot dashboard. All three go after the surface and the color.
Two more worth saying out loud. Do not bend a clasp or file an edge yourself, because work done outside the lab that built it ends the warranty and usually ends the fit the same afternoon. And do not fold it into a napkin on a restaurant table, which is how most appliances are truly lost. Cleaned daily, most acrylic flippers hold up close to two years.
Small parts. Keep an appliance and its case away from children under three.

When to take it out and call us

A removable appliance should sit without pressure. If it feels loose, tight or uncomfortable, stop wearing it and contact us rather than pushing through it or trying to adjust it at home. Reshaping it and rebuilding it both cost you nothing for 30 days after delivery, and the manufacturer warranty runs 60 days. Your model stays on file for two years, so putting something right does not send you back to the putty.
  • Loose, tight or sore. Write to us.
  • Sore spots, bleeding or anything happening in your mouth. See a dentist about it.
  • Send an appliance back clean, unaltered and in the condition it left us.
We are an appliance brand, not a dental practice. The appliances are made for us by a licensed dental lab. We do not diagnose and we do not treat.
