What a flipper tooth really changes between before and after

The after photo shows one thing above all, an even tooth line. The gap is filled by a tooth shaded from your own photos, and the base disappears behind your lip.

Everything else people expect from a before and after belongs to a different appliance. A flipper does not whiten, straighten or reshape the teeth you still have.

Read the before photo first

The gap is only half of what the camera catches. A missing front tooth pulls the lip inward on that side, so the smile looks lopsided even in shots where the gap barely shows.

A missing back tooth does the opposite. Nothing shows at all, and the change appears later in the way you chew and the way the neighboring teeth start to lean.

How we match the shade and the gum tone

You send close-up photos with the impressions. Lab technicians pick the tooth shade against the neighbors, not against a chart, and they copy the translucency at the biting edge where most fakes give themselves away.

The base is tinted to your gum, so the join sits in shadow rather than in a pink line. On the flexible flipper and the semi-flex flipper there is no metal anywhere to catch light.

What a flipper will not do for the photo

It will not brighten the teeth beside it, because the new tooth is matched to them rather than the other way round. If you want a lighter smile overall, that is a snap-on veneer question.

It will not hold a bite that has already collapsed, and it will not stand in for a tooth that is still in the mouth but broken. Anything sore, loose or bleeding needs a dentist first.

Three builds, three looks

The acrylic flipper is the budget build and the only one with wire clasps, which can catch light on a wide smile. The two metal-free builds cost a little more and photograph cleaner.

Questions people actually ask

Will people notice the flipper in photos

Rarely, and almost never in a normal photo. The tooth is shaded from the photos you send, and the pink base sits behind the lip line where a camera does not reach.

How soon after an extraction can I wear one

Most people wait two to three weeks so the socket closes and the gum stops changing shape. Ask the dentist who pulled the tooth to clear you before you take impressions.

Can a flipper close a gap between two front teeth

No. A flipper fills the space where a tooth is gone. Closing a gap between two teeth that are both still there is a job for snap-on veneers or orthodontics.

How many teeth can one flipper carry

Up to three adjacent teeth on a flexible base and up to two on acrylic or semi-flex. Wider gaps move to a partial denture, and we tell you which one your impressions call for.

Not sure a flipper is wide enough for your case, compare it against a full partial denture. Want the naturalness question answered on its own, read whether partials look natural.
